A very happy and satisfied mother “whose dream came true”, concerning the splendid handling of her son’s wedding reception, sent a complimentary note to Paul Guarino, the president, and noted that he is the “fuel behind the fire”. That “fire” or professional drive became part of his DNA as far back as 1915 when his grandfather, Orazio, established the family flair for the food business, pushing bread carts in New York City. He later opened Brooklyn’s first commercial bakery called Guarino and DiLorenzo. Orazio’s son, Joseph Sr. began working for the Silvercup Bread in 1932 in Astoria Queens. Beginning as a delivery boy, he climbed through the ranks becoming a baker and was promoted to sales manager in 1955. Joseph Sr. established the Guarino Food Service with his eldest son who had just returned from the Korean War.

Paul Guarino graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1967 and was Pastry Chef for the Park Plaza in New Haven, Connecticut. Shortly there after he joined his father and brother’s business as the Executive Chef for Mr. G’s Restaurant in New York City. From 1969 to 1978, he held the position of the Vice President of Operations of the Guarino Food Service in New York City.

In the early 1980’s, Paul Guarino began his own phase of the catering business, which now operates under the banner of Paul Guarino Enterprises, Ltd. He is a winner of the prestigious Crystal Pineapple Award for Catering Excellence, continuing to excel with his progressive and innovative approach in serving the ever-changing tastes of his clientele.

Paul Guarino continues his father’s dream of owning and operating a family business. Instead of three sons, it is a son and daughter. Paul’s offspring mark the third generation of Guarino’s in the food service business. The "Guarino" legacy is one that continues into the 21st century on a challenging course to exceed its history and propel itself into a presence in the future. Currently, Paul's children, Paul Guarino Jr. and Nicole Guarino are involved in the day-to-day operations of the business.

Paul Guarino Jr. attended (F. I .U.) Florida International University in Miami, Florida studying Hotel and Restaurant business. He has been with Paul Guarino Enterprises in several different job descriptions since 1990. He is currently the Director of Operations for both the Colonial Inn and Valley Brook Golf club. Additionally, he has attended the Sommelier Institute of New Jersey and has visited many vineyards and wineries across America and Europe. He has applied his knowledge to the Colonial Inn and Valley Brook Golf Club.

Nicole Guarino, a graduate of Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, majored in Business Management and minored in Marketing and has been a part of the business since 1998. Working closely with her father, Nicole oversees many of the numerous details and responsibilities involved in the success of each event. Nicole has also assumed the role of the Special Event Planner, specializing in advertising and marketing. Nicole continues her education by attending many food and party planning seminars. Nicole is also involved in community organizations. Nicole continues to develop new visions that will enhance the success of any "Special Event".
